Meet Jeff Mundy
The Mundy Firm – Experience, Dedication, and Commitment to the Pursuit of Justice for Our Clients
Some lawyers call themselves “trial lawyers.” Some have earned it.
Jeff Mundy is recognized on one of the Top 100 by the National Trial Lawyers.[1]
The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100 is an invitation-only organization composed of the premier trial lawyers from each state or region who meet stringent qualifications as civil plaintiff and/or criminal defense trial lawyers. Selection is based on a thorough multi-phase objective and uniformly applied process which includes peer nominations combined with third-party research. Membership is extended only to the select few of the most qualified attorneys from each state or region who demonstrate superior qualifications of leadership, reputation, influence, stature and public profile measured by objective and uniformly applied standards in compliance with state bar and national Rule 4-7.[2]
Jeff has received the highest possible peer review rating of AV Preeminent from the Martindale-Hubbell peer review ratings. https://www.martindale.com/attorney/mr-john-jeffery-jeff-mundy-1623889/
Jeff Mundy, is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Jeff is one of only 1,295 of the more than 100,000 lawyers in Texas to achieve board certification in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.[3]
Board certification by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization is the only certification in a trial law specialization administered by the State Bar of Texas.
To receive board certification, a lawyer is required to try at least ten jury trials to verdict taking into account the complexity of the case, and number of days in trial. Jeff has completed over 35 jury trials and several non-jury trials.
Then the lawyer must submit the names of all judges and opposing counsel to the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, who then sends confidential questionnaires regarding the integrity, ethics, and competence of the applicant. If the applicant attorney meets the requirements for trial experience, and the confidential interview process, then the applicant submits to a six hour written examination to further test their competence in the substantive area of law and evidence. If they pass, only then are they “board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.” The board certification is only valid for five years. Then the applicant must again apply demonstrating substantial involvement in the area of practice, courtroom experience, trials, and again submit to the confidential questionnaire process. [4]
Mr. Mundy was licensed in 1988, and received his board certification in personal injury trial law in 1996, with re-certifications in 2001, 2006, and 2011, 2016, and 2021. His current certification is in effect until 2026.
Mr. Mundy has served as lead trial counsel in cases involving mass torts including over three months in trial on one case, product defect cases, whistleblower, bus wrecks, truck wrecks, car wrecks, police shooting and civil rights, and assaults on women.
He also has served as co-counsel in a trial involving violations of the Endangered Species Act and gone on to become one of the very few attorneys in Texas who are exclusively representing landowners and groups trying to protect endangered species.
Additionally, he has handled commercial litigation for some of the largest corporations when they have fallen victim to wrongful conduct and sustained substantial financial losses such as a case in which a train crashed into a factory causing substantial losses and another in which a welding contractor caused a major fire in a manufacturing facility.
For each case, Jeff assembles a team substantial trial skills to are other lawyers with substantial experience.
Jeff is proud that he has been asked to be the lawyer for other lawyers when he receives client referrals, or we are called in to assist other law firms in their fights for justice against aggressive corporate defendants who use “scorched earth” tactics, especially in trial and discovery battles.
